In 1872, Yellowstone National Park became the first national park to be found in the Unites States. Spanning 3,500 sq. miles of geological and natural wonders, the park's wilderness is mostly located in Wyoming but crosses into Idaho and Montana.

An extremely walkable city, San Francisco offers those willing to brave its hills a eclectic mix of culture, art and a distinct architectural style. High rents and a severe homeless crisis make this city a contrast of wealth and poverty overlapping each other at the same time. Despite its recent challenges, San Francisco still remains an incredible place to explore and to get lost in.

Mark Twain once worked as a newspaper journalist in what was at one point was known as the richest city in America. The Comstock mine produced millions of dollars of gold and silver ore led the by the entrepreneurship of Irishmen miners John Mackay and James Fair.

I took some time out to spend a day hiking at the base of one of Europe's most iconic mountains. This photo story also features a separate journey made there 3 years ago where we spent the night in the Schwarzsee hotel located at 2,552m above sea level at the foot of the Matterhorn climb.

An old working class neighborhood of Denver, the Five Points is quickly becoming gentrified filled with craft breweries, bars and street art intersected with older side streets and alleys where many locals struggle to remain amidst rising rents.

Historic Highway 49 runs north to south along the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California in what is known as 'Gold Country'. During the late 1840's mining settlements sprung up along what is today Highway 49, many of which still exist today as working towns or as ghost towns. This is a 299 mile photographic journey from Chinese Camp to Nevada City visiting the many historic towns dotted alongside or near Highway 49.

Founded in 1876, Bodie quickly became a boom town in the California Gold Rush. With a population of between 5,000 to 7,000 people at its peak, it became a ghost town almost overnight when the gold ran out in 1915.

Known as Colorado's best preserved ghost town, St. Elmo once held a population of approximately 2,000 people at its peak. Founded in 1880, it quickly became a profitable gold and silver mining town high located in the Rocky Mountains. In 1890, a fire tore through the town's business district which afterwards was never entirely rebuilt.

This internationally renowned tourist destination is found in the south-west of Ireland at the foothills of the country's highest mountain range. It's lakes, mountains and nearby coastline combined with it's history and culture make for an excellent place to visit.
